What is psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a non contagious inflammatory skin disorder characterized by reddish patches covered with silvery scales. Psoriasis affects 2-4% of the population. It is the classic example of a hyperproliferative skin disorder, meaning, the rate of cellular division in psoriatic lesions is very high (1,000 times greater than in normal skin).
What causes psoriasis?
The cause of psoriasis is unknown in spite of ongoing research. The symptoms can be treated but no known cure is currently available. Factors that may trigger and promote psoriasis are:

• Bowel toxemia
• Genetics

• Systemic drugs
